🤠 THE STRANGER WHO WALKED INTO TOWN

🌵 Part 1: The Man with the Silver Star

The night the stranger arrived in Dust Creek, every dog in town began to howl.

It was nearly midnight. The wind swept through the empty streets, carrying clouds of dust past the old saloon. Most of the townspeople were asleep, except for three men playing poker and an old bartender polishing glasses behind the counter.

Then the saloon doors creaked open.

A tall man stepped inside.

He wore a long black coat, a dusty hat pulled low over his face, and a revolver hanging from his belt. His boots were covered in desert sand, and his eyes looked as cold as a winter morning.

Nobody recognized him.

But everyone noticed the silver sheriff’s star pinned to his coat.

The bartender dropped his glass.

“Where did you get that badge?” he whispered.

The stranger didn’t answer. He walked to the counter, placed a photograph on the wooden surface, and ordered a glass of water.

The photograph showed a young woman standing beside the old church on the edge of town.

The bartender stared at it, his hands trembling.

“That’s Emily Carter,” he said quietly. “She disappeared twenty years ago.”

For the first time, the stranger raised his head.

“I’m looking for the man who killed her.”

The three poker players slowly stood up. One of them reached for his gun, but the bartender shouted, “Don’t!”

Outside, the church bell rang once.

Then twice.

Then a third time.

The stranger turned toward the window.

“That bell hasn’t rung in twenty years,” someone whispered.

The saloon fell silent.

Suddenly, the front door burst open. Sheriff Daniel Brooks rushed inside, his face pale and his breathing heavy.

He stared at the stranger’s silver badge.

Then he looked at the man’s face.

For several seconds, neither of them spoke.

Finally, the sheriff whispered words that made every man in the room freeze.

“Dear God… we buried you twenty years ago.”

The stranger slowly smiled.

“You buried the wrong man, Sheriff.”

He leaned closer and whispered:

“Now tell me… where is the mayor?”

🤠 What do you think happened twenty years ago? And why is the stranger searching for the mayor?
