Two Men Killed in Horror Three-Car Crash During Storm Boelo as Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to 20-Year-Old Victim
A 20-year-old man has been named as one of two people killed in a devastating three-car collision in Scotland as Storm Boelo battered the country with powerful winds and heavy rain. Arran Callander died at the scene of the crash in Bathgate, West Lothian, on Sunday, October 25, leaving his family and friends struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

The collision happened at around 12:15 p.m. on the B708 Lower Bathville road, involving a white BMW, a blue Citroen Saxo and a blue Peugeot 208. Callander was driving the BMW when it collided with the other two vehicles, according to reports. The 84-year-old man driving the Peugeot also died at the scene.
A 19-year-old passenger travelling in the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment. The two occupants of the Citroen — a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman — were assessed by paramedics at the scene. Police have not yet publicly identified the older man who died in the crash, and investigators are continuing to establish exactly how the collision occurred.
Callander’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from loved ones, with his sister Angela sharing an emotional tribute to her brother. She described him as someone who would be deeply missed, writing that the loss still felt unreal and expressing her wish to see him again. She also extended her thoughts to everyone affected by the tragedy, adding a heartfelt message of love and farewell.
Friends also remembered Callander for his humour, warmth and ability to make people laugh. His longtime friend Amelie Johansen said she could not come to terms with losing someone who had been part of her life for so long. She recalled the memories they had shared and his memorable one-liners, describing the grief as unbearable and saying that he truly was “one of a kind.”
The crash occurred while an amber weather warning for Storm Boelo was in force across much of Scotland. The storm brought severe winds and disruptive weather to parts of the United Kingdom, with authorities warning motorists about dangerous conditions. However, police have not confirmed that the weather caused the collision, and the precise circumstances remain under investigation.
Sergeant Dave Waddell said police were thinking of the families and friends of both men who died, as well as everyone affected by the incident. Officers have appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash or may have relevant dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1770 of October 25, 2026.
As the investigation continues, tributes to Callander reflect the profound impact of his death on those who knew him. For his family and friends, the loss of a young man remembered for his personality and laughter has left a painful void, while another family is also mourning the death of an elderly loved one.
