Twin Brother Watched His Sibling Die After Stranger Opened Fire While They Waited to Pick Up Their Father
They were 31-year-old twins spending an ordinary evening waiting for their father to finish work. But a stranger suddenly opened fire inside the Pennsylvania bar, leaving one brother dead and the other desperately trying to save his life. Four years later, the gunman has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Daniel Moles, 66, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on October 28, 2026, after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and attempted homicide. The case stemmed from a shooting on November 13, 2021, at Woodpeckers Grub and Pub in Upper Burrell, Pennsylvania. The victims were identical twin brothers Randy and Andy Jenereaux, both 31 at the time. They had gone to the establishment to pick up their father, who worked there as a cook. Neither brother could have anticipated that their routine visit would end in such a devastating attack.
According to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, Moles fired two shots from across the bar toward the twins. One bullet struck Randy’s beer glass before hitting his hand and wrist and eventually lodging in his chest. Andy was not physically injured by the gunfire, but he suddenly found himself facing the possibility of losing his brother. The shooting reportedly happened without any prior confrontation between the men. Investigators found no evidence that Moles knew either brother or had been involved in an argument with them before opening fire.
After being shot, Randy and Andy managed to get back to their vehicle. Andy tried desperately to drive his twin brother to a hospital, hoping that medical treatment could save his life. But Randy’s injuries were too severe. He died inside the vehicle before they could reach the hospital. For Andy, the tragedy meant losing the person who had shared his life from the very beginning. What began as a simple trip to collect their father became a memory marked by an unimaginable loss.
The investigation eventually led to Moles being prosecuted for the attack. A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder for killing Randy and attempted homicide for the shooting directed at Andy. The verdict established his criminal responsibility for both offenses, despite Andy surviving without physical injuries. Following the conviction, the court imposed a life sentence without the possibility of parole for Randy’s murder, along with an additional sentence of 20 to 40 years in prison for the attempted homicide of Andy.
The timing of the sentencing made the moment even more painful for the family. October 28, 2026, was also what would have been Randy and Andy’s 36th birthday. Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli described the date as a painful reminder of the life that had been taken and the future the brothers should have shared. Although the sentence brings the criminal case to a significant conclusion, it cannot restore the bond between the twins or erase the memory of the final moments they spent together. Andy survived the attack, but he will have to live with the loss of his brother for the rest of his life.
