Great Wolf Lodge Double-Homicide Case: Police Seize Knives, Journals and Financial Records From Family Home
What began as a family stay at a popular Pennsylvania resort ended in the deaths of a father and his 3-year-old son. Now, investigators are examining evidence recovered from the family’s home in Towanda, hoping to understand what happened before the tragedy at Great Wolf Lodge. The case centers on Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, who has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide in connection with the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son.

The incident occurred on October 12, 2026, at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. Police responded after Harrison called 911 and reportedly asked for help dying. According to court documents, she told the dispatcher that her husband and son were already dead. Officers arriving at the hotel room found Charles and the child with fatal stab wounds, while Harrison had injuries to her wrist and neck. She was taken to hospital for treatment. Investigators later described the incident as an isolated domestic tragedy.
One of the most significant developments came when police searched the family’s home in Towanda. According to the search inventory, investigators seized approximately 10 knives with teal-colored handles, along with journals, financial records, a financial notebook, a laptop, a safe and other personal documents. Two knives with similar teal handles had previously been recovered from the hotel room. Resort employees reportedly told investigators that the knives were not the type normally used at the property. Authorities are examining the recovered items, although the presence of similar knives does not, by itself, establish which weapon was used.
The search also raised questions about why the family had been staying at the resort for so long. Records indicate that they checked in on September 21 and extended their reservation, with checkout scheduled for October 13. When officers checked the family’s Towanda residence, they reportedly found an electric-service shutoff notice on the front door. Investigators sought financial documents and electronic records that might help explain the extended stay and the circumstances leading up to the deaths. The contents of the journals and laptop have not been publicly disclosed, and no confirmed motive has been established.
Court documents also contain allegations from Charles Harrison’s relatives, who described Metallica as controlling and claimed she had increasingly isolated Charles and their son from his family. Relatives further alleged that she had expressed resentment toward the child and had previously said she never wanted to become pregnant. These statements are part of the investigative materials and have not been independently established as facts about the family’s relationship. Investigators are continuing to examine the evidence rather than treating those allegations as a definitive explanation for what happened.
The case reached another court milestone on November 3, when Harrison appeared virtually for a preliminary hearing and waived the hearing. Her formal arraignment is scheduled for January 7, 2027, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She remains accused of two counts of criminal homicide, and the charges have not yet been proven in court. For now, the seized evidence may help investigators reconstruct the events leading to the deaths of Charles and his young son, but many questions—including the precise motive and sequence of events—remain unanswered.
