Missing 10-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Car Trunk — Foster Mother Charged With Murder After 10-Day Search
A heartbreaking search for a missing 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl ended in tragedy after authorities discovered her body inside the trunk of a car in New Jersey. Malayshia Alford, also known as Jalayshia, had disappeared from her foster home in West Philadelphia, prompting a 10-day search involving local police, the FBI and community members. Her body was discovered late on November 4, 2026, inside a vehicle parked outside an apartment complex in Lindenwold, Camden County. The discovery led investigators to arrest and charge her foster mother, 36-year-old Caprice Williams, in connection with the child’s death.

The investigation began after Williams reported Malayshia missing on October 26. She allegedly told authorities that the girl had left their home to walk to the school bus stop but never returned. However, investigators later established that the last confirmed sighting of Malayshia was on October 22, when surveillance footage showed her returning home from school. Authorities also learned that she had reportedly not attended school on October 23 or October 26. The delay between the last confirmed sighting and the missing-person report became an important part of the investigation.
As detectives continued searching, they reviewed surveillance footage and followed evidence that eventually led them to a vehicle in Lindenwold, New Jersey. Investigators reportedly obtained video showing what appeared to be a body being removed from the foster home during the early hours of October 26. They later traced the remains to a car parked at an apartment complex. On Wednesday night, November 4, officers located the vehicle and discovered Malayshia’s body inside its trunk, bringing the search to a devastating conclusion.
The medical examination revealed even more troubling details. According to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, the child had bruises and scars suggesting a history of physical abuse. A preliminary examination by the New Jersey medical examiner determined that Malayshia died from blunt force trauma, and her death was classified as a homicide. Authorities have not publicly released every detail surrounding the injuries or the exact circumstances of her death, but prosecutors described the case as a deeply disturbing act of violence against a child who had been entrusted to adult caregivers.
Williams was subsequently charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and related offenses. Investigators have also questioned at least one other person who may have helped dispose of the child’s remains, although further details about that individual’s possible involvement have not been fully disclosed. Malayshia’s death has left her biological family and community devastated. Relatives had reportedly been trying to regain custody of the girl after she entered the foster care system several years earlier. As the investigation continues, the case has also raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the responsibility of the systems entrusted with protecting vulnerable children.
