Presley Gerber Suffered Apparent Overdose and Cardiac Arrest Before His Death at 27

New details have emerged about the final moments of Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, who died at age 27.

According to emergency dispatch recordings, first responders were called to the Santa Monica rehabilitation facility where Gerber was staying on the morning of September 20 after reports of both an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest.

Emergency Call Came That Morning

The initial call was dispatched at approximately 9:35 a.m., with responders sent to the facility after a report of cardiac arrest. A separate dispatch indicated that the emergency involved an apparent overdose.

Gerber was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m.

He had reportedly entered the rehabilitation facility only hours earlier as he continued efforts to address longstanding struggles with substance use and mental health.

Cause of Death Has Not Been Officially Determined

While authorities are investigating the death as an apparent overdose, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not officially determined Gerber’s cause of death.

An autopsy was completed, but the case remains deferred while additional testing is conducted. Officials have said that toxicology and other studies could take weeks or months before a final determination is made.

Santa Monica police are investigating the death, and authorities have said there is currently no indication of foul play.

His Family Had Tried to Help

Presley had been open about his struggles with addiction and depression, including his efforts to seek treatment and maintain sobriety.

People close to the family said Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber had spent years trying to support their son. They reportedly helped him pursue therapy, rehabilitation programs and other forms of treatment and had hired sober coaches to assist him.

The family had also celebrated periods when Presley was doing better, making his death especially painful for those closest to him.

Presley Had Wanted to Be Honest About His Struggles

In recent years, Presley increasingly spoke publicly about his mental health and substance-use challenges.

He said he wanted to be honest about his experiences rather than hide them, hoping that openness could help other people facing similar struggles.

At his final public appearance in June, he spoke about the impact medications had had on his mental health and described feeling freer after becoming honest with himself.

A Family Asking for Privacy

Presley’s death has left his parents and younger sister, Kaia Gerber, devastated.

The family has asked for privacy as they navigate the loss and remember Presley away from the intense public attention surrounding his death.

Although his career included work as a model for major fashion brands, those closest to him have emphasized that his struggles and his efforts to overcome them were an important part of who he was.

The official circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, but for his family, the focus now is on grieving the loss of a son and brother they loved deeply.
