Tourist Allegedly Chases Partner Through Spanish Hotel With Knife Before Barricading Himself Inside With Child
A family holiday on Spain’s Costa del Sol reportedly descended into a terrifying ordeal after a tourist allegedly chased his partner through a hotel while armed with a knife, before locking himself inside a room with their young child. The dramatic incident took place in Manilva, in Málaga province, on the final day of the family’s vacation, according to reports.

Police said the man allegedly became violent following a heated argument with his partner. Fearing for her safety, the woman reportedly grabbed two of the couple’s three children and fled the hotel room. But the situation allegedly escalated when the man pursued her through the hotel while carrying a knife, turning a family getaway into a frightening emergency.
A hotel security guard reportedly stepped in when the woman was being chased. The guard confronted the suspect and managed to tackle him to the ground, potentially preventing the situation from becoming even more dangerous. However, the ordeal was not over: according to reports, the man returned to the room and barricaded himself inside with the couple’s third child, while still armed with the knife.
The emergency prompted a response from both the Local Police and the Guardia Civil. Officers reportedly obtained a master key from hotel staff and entered the room equipped with protective gear. They managed to overpower the suspect and take him into custody, ending a tense standoff that had raised concerns for the child’s safety.

The man was detained on suspicion of gender-based violence. Reports also indicated that authorities had previously been called to the hotel over suspected domestic abuse involving the couple. The family had reportedly been due to return to their home country the following day, but the holiday ended with a major police intervention instead.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the family’s nationality or released further details about the children. The case remains a stark reminder of how quickly an alleged domestic dispute can escalate, leaving not only the adults involved but also children caught in a frightening and potentially dangerous situation.
