Mother, 27, Accused of Killing Husband and 3-Year-Old Son at Popular Resort Before Making Disturbing Plea to Police
A family getaway at a popular American resort has ended in tragedy after a 27-year-old mother was accused of fatally stabbing her husband and their three-year-old son inside a hotel room. The horrifying incident unfolded at Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, leaving investigators searching for answers about what led to the deaths of two members of the same family.

Police were called to the resort on Monday, October 12, after Metallica Rose Harrison reportedly contacted emergency services and asked how she could end her own life. According to information cited in court documents, she told the call handler that her husband and young son were already dead. Officers responding to the scene discovered Harrison with injuries believed to have been self-inflicted, and she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Inside the hotel room, officers found the bodies of Harrison’s husband, identified as Charles, and their three-year-old son lying on separate beds. Investigators reported that Charles had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, while the child had a single knife wound to the chest. Two knives were recovered from the room, including a large butcher knife found on the bathroom floor and a smaller knife in the sink. Hotel staff reportedly told police that the knives did not belong to the property.

The case took another disturbing turn when Harrison allegedly spoke to emergency personnel while being transported to hospital. According to reports cited by The Sun, she expressed despair over the collapse of the family life she had imagined, saying that she had hoped to have a happy family. Her reported remarks have added another heartbreaking dimension to a case that has shocked the local community.
The family had reportedly been staying at the resort since September 21, with their original booking scheduled to end on October 5. They later extended their stay until October 13, making the incident even more unsettling for those trying to understand what happened during the family’s time there. Authorities have not yet publicly established a motive, and the circumstances leading up to the deaths remain under investigation.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the incident as a deeply disturbing act of domestic violence and said investigators were continuing to gather evidence. He also indicated that authorities believed there was no ongoing threat to the wider public. Great Wolf Lodge expressed sorrow over the tragedy and said it was cooperating fully with law enforcement.
Harrison has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide. It was not immediately clear whether she had entered a plea, and the charges remain allegations as the legal process continues. Investigators are expected to examine the available evidence to determine the full sequence of events behind the deaths of the father and his young son.
For now, the tragedy has left a family shattered and raised painful questions about what may have happened behind the closed door of the hotel room. Police have said their investigation remains ongoing as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
