Bodycam Captures Heartwarming Rescue: Wildlife Rescuer Scoops Tiny Ducklings From Roadside Storm Drain as Worried Mama Mallard Watches

A quiet suburban roadside. A storm drain. A dozen tiny ducklings — and one very worried mother.

Newly released bodycam footage shows the tender moment a wildlife rescuer knelt beside a roadside storm drain in a green park and gently lifted a group of stranded ducklings to safety — one by one — while their mother, a brown female mallard, watched anxiously from the grassy curb above.

The 15-second clip, timestamped 11:28 AM, opens on the tiny yellow-and-brown ducklings clustered together beside the dark metal drainage grate beneath the concrete curb. Frightened and confused, they chirp softly as their mother paces the grassy edge, quacking and looking down at her babies.

Wearing a neon-yellow high-visibility rescue jacket and white protective work gloves, the rescuer kneels carefully beside the drain. Both hands reach in slowly, supporting each fragile duckling before guiding it toward a white ventilated rescue carrier lined with a soft pale pink towel.

One by one, the ducklings are placed inside the carrier, huddling together as they grow calmer. In the final moments, the rescuer turns toward the roadside where the mother duck waits — the ducklings now safe, together, and warm.

“Every one of these little ones was scooped out by hand,” rescuers noted. “Slow, gentle, no rushing. Mama stayed the whole time.”

The footage ends on a peaceful note: a carrier full of ducklings, a mother duck standing watch, and a quiet road lined with sun-dappled trees.
