The Princess Saved a Dying Dragon… Their Bond Changed Everything

The snow blanketed the dark pine canopy of the eternal winter forest in pure white. Amidst the biting, bone-chilling cold, Princess Elara staggered through the deep snowdrifts. She had not left the citadel to flee, but to seek a way to save her kingdom from being swallowed by the blizzard.
Then, she froze. The surrounding air suddenly grew suffocating, thick with the heavy stench of blood and sulfur.
Lying deep beneath a collapsed stone cavern was a majestic, giant dragon. Its sapphirine-blue scales were dusted with ice and frost, but along its flank lay a gruesome wound bleeding grey blood—a scar from an attack by dragon hunters. The colossal creature let out a threatening growl, its breath sweeping away the surrounding pine branches like a sudden gale.
Instead of fear, Elara saw only deep agony and profound loneliness in the dragon’s burning golden eyes. She calmly knelt onto the cold snow, extending her slender hand forward.
From her neck, the heirloom crystal necklace of her royal lineage began to glow. Sweet and mystical, an emerald-green light radiated from the gem, spreading quickly down Elara’s hand until it brushed against the dragon’s wound. The searing pain began to ebb away, replaced by a miraculous warmth. The massive dragon lowered its noble head, softly closing its eyes to accept salvation from the fragile young woman.
But peace shattered in the blink of an eye.
The sound of beast-horn war trumpets echoed across the forest. Dozens of brutal Viking warriors wearing iron masks and wielding battleaxes swarmed out from the thickets. They deployed iron-chained wagons and phantom-nets to surround Elara.
“A dying dragon and a princess!” the Viking chieftain roared with laughter. “Leave the dragon for the snow to devour! As for the princess, she will be a priceless gift for our Sovereign!”
Despite Elara’s fierce resistance, they bound her wrists tightly in iron chains, dragging her across the frozen wasteland toward the northern ice fortress far away. The dragon lay there, exhausted and helpless, watching the figure of its savior vanish into the dense fog.
Night fell, and the blizzard returned with a vengeance.
Tied to a wooden stake in the middle of the Viking camp, Elara huddled against the cold; her necklace had been stolen by her captors. The warriors cheered around the campfire, celebrating their easy prize.
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet began to tremble.
From the distant snow-capped mountains, a beam of emerald-green light pierced through the dark clouds. The lingering magic from the necklace inside the dragon’s wound had completed its miraculous restoration. But more importantly, the spiritual bond between them had been ignited.
A roar that shook the very earth resonated across the skies.
From the clouds above, the magnificent dragon spread its giant wings—spanning tens of meters wide—plunging down upon the Viking fortress like a icy meteor. Its eyes burned with furious blue fire. A rolling torrent of dragon ice-breath swept through, freezing the enemy’s weapons and shattering their chains in an instant.
The Vikings fled in absolute panic before the wrath of the sky’s true lord.
Landing gently in the center of the ruined fortress, the dragon lowered its wing to shield Elara from the howling storm. Using its massive snout, it delicately nudged the crystal necklace—retrieved from the chieftain—back toward her.
Elara embraced the dragon’s warm snout, her tears spilling over onto the white snow. The dragon knelt low, lifting her onto its back before beating its wings and soaring high into the open sky, leaving the cruelty of the human world far behind to begin an immortal legend of friendship.
