Bodycam Captures Dramatic Roadside Rescue: Rescuer Pulls Tiny Kitten From Flooded Storm Drain in Driving Rain

Published: October 18, 2026
Fifteen seconds of chest-mounted bodycam footage is capturing hearts online, showing the moment a rescue worker pulled a tiny tabby-and-white kitten from a flooded roadside storm drain in the middle of a heavy downpour.
The footage, timestamped 2026-10-18 08:16:27, opens on a rain-lashed street. Water sheets across the asphalt, headlights blur through the downpour, and a heavy metal drainage grate has been dragged aside. Just below the edge of the open storm drain, a soaked kitten clings to the concrete — fur plastered to her tiny frame, eyes wide and fixed on the rescuer above.
The rescuer, wearing a bright orange waterproof jacket with reflective silver bands, thick black protective gloves, and a climbing harness, crouches at the drain’s edge. With deliberate care, both gloved hands slide beneath the kitten’s chest and belly. For a heartbeat the kitten presses her small front paws against one glove — then she is lifted, vertically and fully supported, clear of the rushing drainage water.
Muddy water streams from her fur as she is carried away from the opening toward a secure stretch of sidewalk, the camera tilting up to show the rain-soaked road and approaching traffic behind them.
No music. No narration. Just the sound of hammering rain, churning stormwater, passing vehicles, and the faintest of meows.
“She looked up and didn’t look away,” one viewer commented. “Those hands were so gentle.”
The kitten was reportedly dried off, warmed, and taken for a veterinary check following the rescue.
