Man Allegedly Shoots Woman After Chinese Food Date, Wraps Her Body in Blankets and Dumps It in Trash Before Going to Work

A 41-year-old Arizona man is facing murder-related charges after a woman was found dead inside a dumpster at his apartment complex. Investigators say the man admitted to shooting the woman inside his apartment, wrapping her body in blankets and disposing of it before heading to work the following morning.

Nathaniel Brown Jr. was arrested after police discovered the body of Gabrielle Hill, 34, in a dumpster at an apartment complex near 57th Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix, according to court documents. Authorities said the discovery prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hill’s death.

Brown reportedly told detectives that he met Hill at a Chinese restaurant near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road in Glendale on October 16, 2026, before inviting her back to his apartment. According to his account, a firearm was on the couch while the two were together. Brown claimed the gun was unloaded and did not have a magazine inserted when he grabbed it and accidentally shot Hill.

Investigators said Brown told them he panicked after the shooting, lost consciousness and later woke up at approximately 3 a.m. He reportedly contacted coworkers and gave conflicting explanations about what had happened, initially claiming that Hill had shot herself before later saying that the gun discharged accidentally as he tried to take it from her. Brown also reportedly acknowledged that he did not seek medical assistance because he feared being accused of shooting her.

According to court documents, Brown wrapped Hill’s body in blankets, carried it to a dumpster at the apartment complex and then went to work on October 17. Police subsequently recovered her body and began investigating the shooting and the alleged disposal of the remains. The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner listed Hill’s manner of death as undetermined as of October 20, pending a final report.

Brown was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder and concealment of a dead body, according to police. The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.
