Piglet Stranded on a Floating Pallet at a Flooded Gas Station Is Lifted to Safety

A small pink piglet was rescued from a floating wooden pallet in the middle of a severely flooded roadside gas station on Friday afternoon, as a powerful rainstorm sent muddy water surging across the forecourt.

Chest-mounted bodycam footage recorded by the rescuer shows the piglet crouched alone on the pallet as floodwater moved around it, with submerged fuel pumps, the bright canopy lights and the station’s convenience store visible behind. The piglet, its pink skin muddy and wet, watched the approaching rescuer nervously as heavy rain continued to fall.

In the footage, the rescuer steadies the floating pallet with one gloved hand and slowly extends the other toward the animal. The piglet lifts its head and sniffs the air before the rescuer slides both hands beneath its chest and belly, supporting its full weight. After a brief wiggle, the piglet is lifted clear of the pallet and drawn down into the rescuer’s arms, held low against his chest, where it gradually calms and rests its head against his forearm.

The entire rescue was captured in a single continuous bodycam shot lasting 15 seconds. No music or narration accompanies the recording — only heavy rainfall, rushing floodwater, the creaking of the wooden pallet and the piglet’s soft squeals.

The piglet’s condition after the rescue was not immediately reported, but it appeared calm and uninjured as it was held securely above the floodwater.
