TWO TEENS, 18 AND 19, ARRESTED AFTER KNIFE ATTACK INSIDE BUSY SHOPPING CENTRE — POLICE RAMP UP PATROLS
A man suffered injuries after a knife-related confrontation erupted inside Manchester’s busy Arndale shopping centre, prompting security guards to intervene and police to arrest two young men.

The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, as shoppers visited the popular city-centre mall.
According to Greater Manchester Police, officers were called to the Arndale Centre at approximately 12:50 p.m. following reports of an assault.
A man sustained minor injuries, reportedly to his arm. Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article.
Both suspects remained in police custody at the time of the report.
SECURITY GUARDS STEP IN AS TENSIONS ESCALATE
Footage circulating online reportedly showed a group of young men involved in a confrontation inside the shopping centre.
Security guards intervened as the situation escalated. In the footage described by The Sun, one guard could be seen kicking a knife away from the group before keeping it secured beneath his foot while waiting for police to arrive.

The quick intervention helped prevent the weapon from remaining within the group’s reach while officers were on their way.
The incident raised fresh concerns about knife-related violence in crowded public spaces, where shoppers and workers can find themselves caught up in dangerous situations.
However, police have not released full details about what sparked the confrontation or identified the injured man publicly.
POLICE ISSUE STATEMENT AND INCREASE PATROLS
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that two men had been arrested following the reported assault.
The force described the incident as isolated and said there was no wider threat to the public.
Nevertheless, additional patrols were planned across Manchester city centre over the weekend as officers continued their response to recent incidents.
The arrests remain allegations, and the suspects have not been convicted of any offence in connection with this incident.
SECOND KNIFE INCIDENT AT THE SAME MALL IN ONE WEEK
The latest confrontation occurred just one week after another serious incident at the Arndale Centre.
On Saturday, October 17, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the shopping centre’s multi-storey car park. He was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a stab wound and was reported to be in stable condition.
Greater Manchester Police subsequently arrested two 14-year-old boys on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Authorities have explicitly stressed that the two incidents are not believed to be connected.
The separate cases have nevertheless brought renewed attention to public safety at one of Manchester’s busiest shopping destinations.
For now, investigators are continuing to examine the latest assault, while increased police patrols aim to reassure shoppers and deter further violence.
