Stuck in the Mud Between the Apple Trees, a Baby Alpaca Takes Its First Steps to Safety

Bodycam footage timestamped 12:18:54 on October 27, 2026, captures a quiet rescue in a storm damaged apple orchard, where a small cream white baby alpaca was trapped in thick, sticky mud.

The young alpaca lay partially sunken in a deep muddy rut, its soaked curly wool matted with mud and its front legs unable to find a grip. Fallen red and green apples, broken branches, and wet leaves surrounded it, while rain continued to fall over the damaged orchard rows.

A rescuer in a burgundy waterproof jacket and black gloves crouched beside the frightened animal, moving slowly so as not to startle it. The alpaca looked toward the camera, blinking, its long ears upright, as the rescuer carefully slid both hands beneath its chest and shoulders.

With slow, controlled support, the rescuer helped the alpaca push with its hind legs. The mud resisted at first, pulling at its front legs with every movement, but little by little, the suction gave way. Small splashes rippled through the muddy water as the alpaca finally freed its legs.

Supported step by step, the baby alpaca stood, steadier with each movement, and walked onto firmer ground between the orchard rows. Muddy water dripped from its wool, but its eyes were calmer now, and it looked back toward the camera as if it understood it was safe.

It was a rescue built on patience, not force, and in the end, all it took was two gentle hands and a few brave steps to turn fear into freedom.
