Parents Accused of Systematically Abusing Baby Daughter Before Her Death as Court Hears Disturbing Evidence
A 13-month-old girl suffered months of alleged physical and sexual abuse before sustaining the fatal head injury that ended her life, a court in England has heard. Prosecutors allege that the child’s parents subjected her to a prolonged pattern of cruelty and neglect, with evidence presented at trial raising deeply disturbing questions about what happened in the weeks before her death.

Isabella Stasiak’s mother, Kinga Wydrzynska, 26, and father, Michal Stasiak, 28, are on trial at Warwick Crown Court over the little girl’s death. Prosecutors told jurors that Isabella suffered multiple injuries during her short life, including a fractured skull, broken ribs, a fractured arm, extensive bruising and a burn across her face.
According to the prosecution, the injuries were not the result of one isolated incident. Prosecutor Annabel Darlow KC said the evidence pointed to an entrenched pattern of abuse, neglect and mistreatment over at least five weeks before Isabella died. The court also heard allegations that the child had suffered two separate episodes of serious head trauma, alongside physical and sexual abuse.
One of the most troubling parts of the case concerns a series of videos Wydrzynska allegedly recorded beside her daughter after the child had become unresponsive. Jurors were told that the footage showed the mother speaking to Isabella, appearing to prod and shake her, and expressing concern about the consequences for herself. Prosecutors argued that the recordings were significant evidence in their case against her.

The court heard that Wydrzynska did not call emergency services until approximately 17 minutes after recording the videos. Isabella was then taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to save her. Prosecutors allege that Wydrzynska was the only adult present when the fatal injury occurred and argue that the footage and delay in seeking help are important to understanding the circumstances of the child’s death.
Isabella had spent the first four months of her life with a foster family before being returned to her parents in April 2024. The court also heard that Stasiak had moved out of the family home in December 2024 after being arrested for allegedly assaulting Wydrzynska. He was subsequently released on police bail.
Wydrzynska denies murder. Both parents deny charges relating to causing or allowing a child’s death, causing or allowing serious physical harm, child cruelty and alleged sexual offenses against a child. The trial is ongoing, and the allegations against them have yet to be determined by the court.
