💔 TWO COLLEGE STUDENTS VANISHED ON A MOUNTAIN HIKE — THEN SEARCHERS FOUND THEIR TENT BURIED UNDER HEAVY SNOW.

Two college students are missing in Colorado after a planned mountain hike turned into a desperate search against worsening winter conditions.

Kaden Matsuda, 19, and Jackson Donlon, 20, left Colorado Mountain College’s Leadville campus on Friday, October 23, intending to hike Ice Mountain. They were expected to return by Saturday or Sunday, depending on conditions.

But neither young man came back.

When authorities began searching, they found Matsuda’s vehicle near the trailhead. The surrounding area had received several inches of snow, while parts of the mountain were buried under much deeper drifts.

Then came a discovery that raised more questions.

🚨 On Tuesday, searchers located the hikers’ tent near Lake Ann. It had collapsed under the weight of the snow, with sleeping bags, a camping stove, and clothing still inside.

But Kaden and Jackson were nowhere to be found.

Investigators also found no visible footprints near the tent. Neither student’s cellphone had been used in the previous 48 hours, although authorities noted that poor service or phones being switched off could explain the silence.

The mountain’s conditions have made the search extremely dangerous. Ice Mountain is a technical climb even in dry weather, and heavy snowfall has complicated efforts by ground crews, helicopters, drones, and search dogs.

Despite the frightening discoveries, officials have not given up hope.

Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich said search teams were using all available resources while considering other places the students might have traveled. Both young men were described as strong and experienced outdoors.

Matsuda was studying to become a wildland firefighter, while Donlon was pursuing a future as a mountain guide.

With more bad weather expected, the window for rescue is narrowing. Their families and friends are waiting desperately for answers.

🙏 Please keep Kaden and Jackson, their loved ones, and the search-and-rescue teams in your thoughts as the search continues.
