A Little Girl Saved Her Lunch for a Hungry Old Man—Then He Came to Her School
PART 1: THE LUNCH SHE GAVE AWAY
Every day, eight-year-old Lily Parker walked past an old man sitting outside her elementary school.
His clothes were torn. His hands trembled from the cold. And while everyone else hurried past, Lily always smiled.
One afternoon, she noticed he was staring at the sandwich in her lunch bag.

“Are you hungry, sir?” she asked.
The old man lowered his eyes. “I haven’t eaten since yesterday, sweetheart.”
Without hesitating, Lily handed him her entire lunch.
“But what will you eat?” he whispered.
Lily smiled. “It’s okay. Mommy says kindness always comes back.”
What the old man didn’t know was that Lily’s mother was a struggling single parent who sometimes skipped dinner so her daughter could eat.
For five days, Lily secretly saved her lunch for him.
On the sixth day, her teacher noticed Lily looking pale and weak.
“Lily, have you been eating lunch?”
Before Lily could answer, the principal’s voice came over the intercom.
“Mrs. Thompson, please bring Lily Parker to the front office. Immediately.”
When Lily arrived, she froze.
The old man was standing beside the principal.
But this time, he wasn’t wearing his torn coat.
He was dressed in an expensive black suit, and two men stood beside him.
The principal looked at Lily with tears in her eyes.
“Lily, this gentleman has something very important to tell you.”
The old man slowly knelt in front of her.
“Sweetheart, do you remember what you told me about kindness coming back?”
Lily nodded.
He took a small photograph from his pocket.
“Then there’s something you need to know about your mother…”
And when Lily looked at the photograph, her little hands began to shake.
