Black Labrador Guided Off Storm-Tossed Marina Dock Onto Rescue Boat

A large black Labrador retriever was led to safety from a floating marina dock on the evening of November 12, after a severe rainstorm left the dog stranded on the wet, wave-tossed boards as emergency boats worked across the harbor.

Bodycam footage recorded by the rescuer shows the dog standing on the unstable dock in a red rescue harness, its black fur dripping wet and its brown eyes fixed on the camera. Around them, sailboats and yachts pitched at their moorings, gray water slapped against the dock, and red and blue emergency lights reflected across the harbor from rescue vessels in the distance.

The rescuer, wearing a blue marine rescue drysuit, black waterproof gloves and a red rescue flotation vest hung with straps, clips and marine safety equipment, kept one hand resting on the dog’s harness while extending the other reassuringly. The Labrador looked around at the storm, then stepped slightly closer and held its ground on the slick boards.

Moving carefully on the moving dock, the rescuer clipped a safety leash securely to the harness ring and guided the dog step by step along the dock toward a nearby rescue vessel, one hand supporting the harness throughout. At the boarding ramp the Labrador hesitated only briefly before climbing onto the stable platform, following the leash up and into the vessel.

The dog appeared frightened and soaked but unharmed, and ended the footage standing securely inside the rescue boat, away from the exposed dock, ready to be dried, warmed and checked over.
