Bodycam Captures Gentle Rescue: Beagle Puppy Lifted From a Flooded Canoe at a Forest Campground

A forest campground under heavy rain, its picnic tables half submerged and its tents standing in rising brown water, became the scene of a small rescue that bodycam footage captured frame by frame.
The chest-mounted footage, dated 2024-08-11 with a timestamp of 15:17:08, opens on a red canoe wedged fast among flood debris and fallen branches. The puppy shifts its front paws in the shallow water and watches. Then both hands slide beneath its chest and abdomen, supporting its full weight, and lift it gently clear of the muddy water. Droplets pour from its soaked fur as it rises.
Held securely low against the rescuer’s harness, the puppy settles. Its breathing slows, its ears relax, and by the final frames it is looking directly into the camera, calm, while the flooded campground and the empty red canoe remain behind it.
A canoe is meant to carry its passengers safely across the water. That afternoon, trapped and filling with rain, it nearly became a trap instead. Thanks to two careful hands, its smallest passenger m
