Terrified passengers watched in horror as a violent confrontation involving large knives erupted on a busy bus in Birmingham, with an elderly woman among those caught in the frightening ordeal. Shocking footage shows a man standing near the driver’s cab, brandishing a long blade while shouting at the driver to move. Outside, a group of around four youths can be seen confronting those inside the vehicle, as tension rapidly escalates into a dangerous clash.

The incident is believed to be connected to a stabbing in Birmingham earlier in the week that left a man with injuries described by police as potentially life-changing. According to West Midlands Police, the victim was chased onto a bus on Corporation Street at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13. What began as a confrontation in the city centre allegedly spilled onto the bus, placing passengers who had no apparent involvement in the dispute in immediate danger.

At the beginning of the footage, the man inside the Arriva bus appears to hold a large knife while looking towards the group outside. He can be heard repeatedly urging the driver to go, but the vehicle remains stationary as shouting continues. One person outside repeatedly bangs on a window, adding to the tension as passengers watch from their seats, seemingly unsure whether they can safely leave.

Moments later, the confrontation erupts into a physical fight involving bladed weapons and what appears to be a black metal object. An onlooker can be heard warning others that someone has a knife. As the violence intensifies, passengers begin trying to get away from the scene. Some rise from their seats and move towards the exit, while an elderly woman also attempts to leave as the struggle continues around her.

The footage appears to show one youth swinging a blade several times before someone falls to the ground. The youth then seems to stamp on the person lying there as others rush towards the confrontation. The recording ends amid calls for someone to contact the police. The full circumstances of the altercation, including the precise roles played by each person shown in the footage, remain matters for the ongoing investigation.

Police have already taken action in connection with the earlier violence. Dello Alphaoumar, 21, has been charged with violent disorder. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with violent disorder, threatening a person with a blade and possessing a hammer. A second boy, aged 16, has been released on bail. Police are still seeking a fourth suspect in connection with the attack.

The case highlights the risks posed when disputes involving weapons spill into public transport, where passengers may have little room to escape. For those on the bus, an ordinary journey was suddenly interrupted by shouting, threats and a fight involving dangerous objects. The footage has brought the frightening experience into public view, while investigators continue working to establish exactly what happened and who was involved.
