College Student, 21, Killed in Horrific Crash After Driver Allegedly Speeds at 94 MPH in a 35 MPH Zone

A promising college student with dreams of building a career in television and film has died after a devastating car crash in Atlanta, Georgia. Morgan Gamble, 21, a senior at Clark Atlanta University, was killed on the night of October 13 when her vehicle was struck by a car allegedly traveling at 94 miles per hour in a zone where the speed limit was just 35 mph. Her death has left her family, friends and university community grieving a young life filled with potential.

According to police, the collision occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hank Aaron Drive and Glen Street in southeast Atlanta. Gamble was driving when a Lexus allegedly driven by Nikolai Dunford struck her vehicle. Emergency responders rushed both drivers to the hospital, but Gamble’s injuries proved fatal. She was later pronounced dead, turning an ordinary night into an unimaginable tragedy for those who loved her.

Investigators reportedly examined data from the Lexus’s event data recorder, which showed that the vehicle had been traveling at approximately 94.4 mph before the crash. That is nearly three times the posted speed limit. Authorities arrested Dunford and charged him with reckless driving, speeding and first-degree vehicular homicide. He was being held at the Fulton County Jail, according to reports. The allegations will be addressed through the legal process, and the charges do not by themselves establish guilt.

Beyond the circumstances of the crash, Gamble is being remembered for her ambition and the opportunities she had begun to pursue. She was a senior at Clark Atlanta University, where she studied television, film and radio. Her interests extended beyond the classroom, and she had recently worked as a background performer on Netflix’s reboot of the popular television series A Different World. For a young woman working toward a future in the entertainment industry, the experience represented another step toward her goals.

Felicia Pride, the showrunner of the reboot, paid tribute to Gamble following news of her death. Pride remembered her as an outstanding student who had also been part of the production, expressing sorrow over the loss and sending support to Gamble’s loved ones and the Clark Atlanta community. Her words reflected the sense of promise that surrounded Gamble and the heartbreak of seeing that promise cut short.

Clark Atlanta University also issued a statement mourning the loss of a member of its campus community. The university extended condolences to Gamble’s family, friends and classmates, while asking the community to respect the family’s privacy as they navigate their grief. Counseling services were made available to students affected by the tragedy, recognizing that the sudden death of a fellow student can leave a lasting emotional impact.

As the investigation continues, Gamble’s death has brought renewed attention to the devastating consequences of extreme speeding. A vehicle moving at nearly 95 mph has far less time to respond to changing road conditions, and a collision at that speed can have catastrophic consequences. For Gamble’s loved ones, however, the loss is not simply a statistic about road safety. It is the loss of a daughter, friend and student whose future held possibilities she will never have the chance to explore.

Authorities continue to pursue the case against Dunford. Meanwhile, those who knew Gamble are left to remember her for more than the circumstances of her final moments: her education, her creative ambitions and the impact she made on the people around her. At just 21, she had been building toward a future in television and film. Now, her family and university community must face the painful reality of a life taken far too soon.
