FLORIDA WOMAN EXPECTS A FOOD DELIVERY — INSTEAD, SHE FINDS TWO YOUNG CHILDREN ALONE AT HER DOOR
A Florida woman was expecting a DoorDash delivery when she opened her apartment door and discovered two young children standing outside without an adult. Authorities say the children’s father, 24-year-old Ezra Anthony Tyson, allegedly left them there and walked away. The incident occurred on October 9 in Jacksonville, Florida, and Tyson now faces two counts of child neglect.

According to an arrest affidavit, the woman heard someone knock at around 1:30 p.m. Because she had ordered food, she expected to see a delivery driver. Instead, she found the two children alone and looked around for an adult, but no one appeared to be with them. A DoorDash driver who arrived around the same time reportedly told investigators he saw a man running away from the area.
Investigators later reviewed doorbell camera footage that allegedly showed Tyson knocking at the apartment before leaving the children outside. The woman reportedly knew the children’s mother but had not agreed to take care of them and did not know how Tyson had obtained her address. When questioned, Tyson allegedly claimed that the people at the apartment knew he was bringing the children.
The case also involves a separate allegation made by the children’s mother. She told authorities that Tyson had confronted her on October 1 when she arrived with the children to drop them off at his home. According to the affidavit, she remained inside an Uber because of previous conflicts, but Tyson allegedly opened the car door and pulled her hair, tearing out one of her braids. Tyson denied touching her, according to police.
Tyson was arrested on October 18 and faces two felony counts of child neglect, along with a domestic battery allegation related to the separate incident. He has since posted bond, and his next court date is scheduled for November 12. The allegations have not been proven in court.
The discovery left the woman unexpectedly responsible for finding help for two children who had apparently been left without supervision. Authorities continue to handle the case as Tyson faces the charges.
