Meghan Markle’s Father Linked to Abandoned Mexico Storage Unit Where Suspected Child Abuse Material Was Reportedly Found — Police Launch Investigation
A disturbing discovery in an abandoned storage unit in Mexico has added another development to allegations involving Thomas Markle Sr. The FBI was reportedly alerted after journalists found materials they believed could involve child sexual abuse. Mexican authorities have since searched the unit, while Markle denies the accusations.

A growing investigation involving Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has taken a new turn after a report claimed that suspected child sexual abuse material was discovered inside a storage unit in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. The unit was reportedly rented under Markle’s name and had allegedly been left unpaid for an extended period. The discovery has raised further questions about materials connected to the 82-year-old, who is already facing separate allegations being examined by authorities in the Philippines.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, journalists gained access to the abandoned unit after learning that rental payments had reportedly fallen behind. Inside, they said they found photographs, magazines, videotapes, books, computer equipment and other personal belongings. Some of the materials were described as potentially depicting or relating to the sexual exploitation of children. The newspaper said it alerted the FBI after making the discovery. However, the contents and their legal status have not been independently established through publicly released forensic findings.

The report also described computer equipment and storage devices that could potentially contain digital evidence. Among the items was reportedly a handwritten reference to the dark web. The discovery prompted further attention from law enforcement, and Mexican authorities subsequently obtained judicial authorization to search the property. Reports on October 31 said officers, including forensic specialists, entered the unit and examined its contents. Authorities were reportedly looking for evidence of child sexual abuse material. The search does not, by itself, establish who placed the items there or whether Markle knowingly possessed anything illegal.
This latest development follows an earlier investigation in the Philippines. Thomas Markle Jr., Meghan’s half-brother, previously alleged that he discovered suspected child sexual abuse material among belongings at their father’s former residence in Cebu. He reportedly handed boxes of items, including electronic devices, to local authorities. Philippine investigators have been examining the material, with some devices reportedly sent to Manila for more specialized forensic analysis. Officials have said they need to establish what the evidence actually contains before determining whether criminal charges are justified.
Thomas Markle Sr. has strongly denied the allegations. In earlier comments reported by the media, he described the accusations as lies and insisted that he had never engaged in sexual activity with anyone under the age of 18. Following the reports about the Mexican storage unit, he also reportedly denied having any storage units in Rosarito. His denials are important because the reported discovery has not yet been publicly confirmed as evidence of a crime committed by him.
The controversy has also brought renewed attention to Meghan’s long-standing estrangement from her father. The Duchess of Sussex said she was deeply distressed by the allegations and expressed concern for any children who may have been harmed. She explained that her decision to keep her father away from her children was made to protect them. Meghan and Markle have been estranged since 2018, and he has never met her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
A separate issue has emerged in the United Kingdom over how the Metropolitan Police handled a letter received in January 2019 that reportedly contained allegations about Markle. The force acknowledged that the correspondence was passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex but was not shared with other law enforcement agencies at the time. The Metropolitan Police has referred its handling of the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for an independent investigation.
For now, several investigations and questions remain open across different countries. Mexican authorities have searched the reported storage unit, Philippine police are examining electronic evidence, and the UK police watchdog is reviewing the handling of the earlier warning letter. None of these developments should be mistaken for a finding of guilt. The central questions remain whether the reported materials are illegal, who owned or controlled them, and whether investigators can establish evidence of criminal conduct. Until forensic examinations and official findings are made public, the allegations against Thomas Markle Sr. remain unproven.
