Missing California Nurse’s Burned Remains Identified by Jewelry After Husband Allegedly Lied That ICE Took Her
A California mother and registered nurse vanished from her home, leaving her family desperate for answers. Weeks later, investigators identified her burned remains through jewelry found with her body — and police say her husband had offered a disturbing explanation for her disappearance, claiming that federal immigration agents had taken her away while she was checking the mail.

Jasmine Gill, 30, was last seen at her Sacramento home on September 30, 2026. Her cousin reported her missing on October 4 after she could no longer be located. During the initial investigation, Jasmine’s husband, Gurinder Gill, 28, allegedly told authorities that officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had detained her outside their home while she went to collect the mail.
Investigators contacted ICE to verify the claim, but the agency reportedly confirmed that no enforcement activity had taken place at the residence. Detectives also identified inconsistencies in Gurinder’s account as they continued looking into Jasmine’s disappearance. Authorities subsequently learned that the couple was going through divorce proceedings and was involved in a dispute over custody of their infant son.
Meanwhile, a separate discovery had already been made in neighboring El Dorado County. On October 1, authorities found burned human remains approximately an hour from the couple’s Sacramento home. Investigators later identified the remains as Jasmine’s, with jewelry found alongside the body helping establish her identity. Officials have not publicly disclosed exactly how she died or the circumstances in which her remains were left at the discovery site.

As the investigation developed, homicide detectives obtained a warrant for Gurinder’s arrest. He was taken into custody on October 14 and charged with murder. Authorities also carried out searches at two residences associated with him. He remains in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail, while investigators continue examining the evidence surrounding Jasmine’s death.
Beyond the criminal investigation, Jasmine’s death has left a young child without his mother. According to a fundraiser organized by loved ones, she was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a registered nurse and the mother of an eight-month-old boy. Her family said she had been seeking a safer future for herself and her baby while pursuing a divorce. They are raising funds to support the child and help return Jasmine’s remains to India, where her mother lives.

For Jasmine’s loved ones, the discovery of her remains has answered one devastating question but left many others unresolved. Investigators are still working to establish the full circumstances of her death, while the murder charge against Gurinder remains an allegation that must be addressed through the legal process. The case continues to draw attention to a family tragedy that began with a missing-person report and ended in a homicide investigation.
