Mom and Stepfather Accused of Leaving 3 Young Children in Hot Jeep While They Gambled at Casino
A night of gambling at a Florida casino has landed a mother and her partner in serious legal trouble after three young children were allegedly left alone inside a parked Jeep with the engine turned off, the windows closed and no access to food or water. Authorities say the children were discovered sweating inside the vehicle at the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, Florida, while the adults were inside playing slot machines.

Police identified the suspects as Lillian Mun and Terrence Wright. Investigators were called to the casino shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, after security personnel noticed three children inside a Jeep that was not running. The children initially appeared to be unconscious, according to the arrest affidavit. When security opened the vehicle, they found the children conscious but sweating. Responding officers reportedly felt heat coming from inside the Jeep, which had its windows rolled up.
The children, all younger than six, had no food, water or phone available to contact an adult or call for help, authorities said. The outside temperature was approximately 76 degrees Fahrenheit, with humidity reaching 89%. Emergency personnel evaluated the children at the scene and determined that they did not require medical treatment. However, investigators said the conditions inside the vehicle could have placed them in serious danger.
According to police, the couple initially gave explanations that were contradicted by casino surveillance footage. Wright reportedly told investigators that he and Mun had gone inside to use the bathroom. Mun allegedly claimed that she had remained in the Jeep with the children until the vehicle shut off, then went inside to find Wright because she did not have the keys. She estimated that the children had been alone for only about 20 minutes.
But surveillance footage reportedly showed a different sequence of events. Investigators said the Jeep arrived at approximately 11:50 p.m., and Wright entered the casino shortly afterward. Mun was seen entering the building around 12:38 a.m. Just three minutes later, cameras allegedly captured her sitting near Wright at a slot machine, watching him gamble. She was later seen playing the machines herself. Police estimated that the children had been left alone for approximately an hour, with neither adult returning to check on them during that period.
Mun and Wright had reportedly been together for about three years and lived together as a family. Wright was described as a father figure and caregiver to the children. Following the incident, the children were placed in the care of one of Mun’s friends, while Florida’s Department of Children and Families was notified to conduct a separate investigation. Both adults were arrested and face three counts of child neglect, along with additional charges related to leaving young children unattended in a vehicle. Wright was released after posting bond, while Mun remained in custody without bond, according to reports. The allegations have not yet been proven in court, and the children’s welfare remains a central concern as the case moves forward.
