NYC Mother Allegedly Called 911 and Confessed to Killing Her 5-Year-Old Daughter

A heartbreaking case in New York City has left a family mourning the loss of a young girl after her mother allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher, “I killed my daughter.” Francis Cabello, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of her 5-year-old daughter, Fabiana Cabello. The child was found unresponsive inside the family’s home in South Richmond Hill, Queens, on October 14, 2026.

According to police, officers arrived at the residence at approximately 6:55 p.m. after receiving an emergency call. Fabiana was found unresponsive and was rushed by first responders to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Although police did not publicly identify the caller, law enforcement sources told several news outlets that Francis allegedly made the call and told the dispatcher she had killed her daughter.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE revealed that an autopsy found scrapes on Fabiana’s face, along with tiny spots of bleeding in her eyes, heart, and lungs. These findings can be associated with asphyxia, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators believe the incident occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. that evening. However, authorities have not yet publicly announced the child’s official cause of death.

Francis was arrested on October 15 and appeared in Queens Criminal Court the following day, where she was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge. She did not enter a plea and was scheduled to return to court on October 20. Her attorney had not immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment, and the case remains part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

As the legal process moves forward, Fabiana’s father, Kuldeep Singh, is facing the devastating loss of his young daughter. He launched a verified GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses, describing the grief as losing his entire world. Singh also explained that he was trying to continue working as an Uber driver while struggling to manage the financial burden of the tragedy.

Fabiana’s uncle remembered her as a joyful, affectionate child who brought happiness to her family and loved giving hugs. Those memories now stand in painful contrast to the circumstances of her death. As investigators continue examining the case, Fabiana’s loved ones are left grieving a life cut short and waiting for answers about what happened inside the Queens home.
