PENNSYLVANIA TEEN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING HIS FATHER FOUR TIMES AFTER ARGUMENT ABOUT HIS MOTHER — THEN ALLEGEDLY TAKING HIS CAR KEYS AND FLEEING

A 19-year-old Pennsylvania man is standing trial in connection with the fatal shooting of his own father, following an argument that reportedly escalated after the older man made comments about his son’s mother. Tayron Reid is charged with criminal homicide in the death of his 45-year-old father, Ta’Ron Reid. The shooting occurred on September 16, 2025, at a home on Ridge Avenue in McKees Rocks, a community near Pittsburgh. Prosecutors are presenting testimony from witnesses who were at the residence that night as the case moves through court.

According to testimony reported by Law&Crime and the Tribune-Review, Ta’Ron had picked up his girlfriend and brought her back to the house because he wanted to see his son. The three reportedly spent some time talking, but the conversation became tense. The woman told the court that Ta’Ron frequently teased or criticized his son, and that night was reportedly no different. According to the criminal complaint, the father insulted Tayron and began talking about his mother, prompting the younger man to ask him to stop.

The argument allegedly continued to escalate. Tayron reportedly suggested that he and his father take their disagreement outside, but Ta’Ron refused. His girlfriend said she tried to calm the situation and eventually became concerned enough to ask to be taken home. Ta’Ron reportedly agreed to drive her after using the bathroom. However, while she was still inside the residence, she heard several loud popping sounds. When she looked toward the scene, she saw her boyfriend fall to the floor.

Prosecutors allege that Tayron fired four shots at his father before stepping over him, taking his car keys and driving away. The woman reportedly screamed as the incident unfolded. Police arrived at approximately 10:35 p.m. and found Ta’Ron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators subsequently identified Tayron as the suspect, and he turned himself in to police on September 29, 2025.

The trial has brought painful details of the father-and-son relationship into public view, including testimony about the argument that preceded the shooting. Ta’Ron’s obituary remembered him as a man with a vibrant spirit and sense of humor who valued his family and treasured time with loved ones. Tayron remains charged with criminal homicide, and the prosecution must establish the allegations in court. The trial was reported to be continuing on October 22, 2026, as jurors hear evidence and witness accounts surrounding the fatal encounter.
