A disturbing investigation in Smyrna, Georgia, has taken a major turn after police discovered additional human remains in a vehicle and announced a murder charge against an 18-year-old man already in custody.

The woman is believed to be 26-year-old Shanteria “Tia” Mosely, a Georgia mother whose family had been desperately searching for her after she disappeared earlier this week.

Authorities said the latest discovery was made Friday, September 25, when detectives executed a search warrant on a vehicle. Garbage bags were found inside the trunk, and investigators noticed that one of the tightly wrapped bags appeared to contain a body part.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene. After the bags were opened, investigators confirmed that they contained human remains. Police said they believe those remains belong to Mosely.

POLICE SAY THE VICTIM WAS FOUND IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS
The investigation began Wednesday evening at the Park Valley Apartments in Smyrna after Mosely’s family became increasingly concerned about her whereabouts.

According to police, officers were first called to the apartment complex around 6:57 p.m. after family members reported that Mosely’s phone and vehicle were there.

An officer reportedly remained at the complex for approximately 30 minutes, knocking on doors and speaking with people in the area.

Police later received another call and returned to the complex around 8:16 p.m.

During that period, witnesses reportedly saw Kingston Bradley carrying a plastic tub away from his apartment. According to the arrest warrant, Bradley allegedly dropped the container after realizing he had been seen and ran back toward his apartment.

Investigators later found a dismembered torso inside the container, according to the warrant.

At the time of Bradley’s initial arrest, police charged him with concealing the death of another.

The case changed significantly two days later.

ADDITIONAL REMAINS DISCOVERED IN A CAR
On Friday evening, detectives searched a vehicle as part of the continuing investigation.

Inside the trunk, investigators found several garbage bags. One bag was reportedly pulled tightly enough that the outline of what appeared to be a body part could be seen.

Police initially did not open the bag themselves and instead contacted the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Once medical examiner personnel arrived, the bags were opened and human remains were confirmed.

Based on the evidence gathered so far, Smyrna police said they believe the remains are those of Shanteria Mosely.

The discovery led authorities to announce that Bradley would also face a malice murder charge. He remained in custody and was being held without bond, according to jail records.

Police emphasized that the investigation is still active and that detectives are continuing to follow leads.

FAMILY HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR MOSely
Mosely’s relatives played a major role in the search for the missing mother.

According to local reports, family members tracked her phone to the Park Valley Apartments after they could no longer reach her.

They went through the complex themselves, knocking on doors and asking residents whether they had seen her.

Family members later told reporters that they encountered Bradley during their search and saw him carrying a plastic container covered by a quilt.

Relatives eventually discovered human remains in a wooded area near the apartment complex.

The family has publicly demanded answers and said their priority is understanding what happened to Mosely and recovering any remaining evidence or remains.

POLICE FOUND BLOOD EVIDENCE INSIDE THE APARTMENT
Investigators searching Bradley’s apartment reportedly recovered several pieces of evidence that are now part of the investigation.

According to court documents and police reports, detectives found areas showing blood staining, a large saw with what investigators described as blood on it, a mop bucket containing water, a mop and carpet-cleaning equipment.

Investigators also reported a strong smell of bleach inside the apartment.

However, police have cautioned that evidence found during the investigation must still be analyzed and connected to specific events before conclusions can be drawn.

During a Friday briefing, investigators said they had not yet directly established a particular instrument as the weapon or tool used in the dismemberment.

THE BIG QUESTIONS POLICE ARE STILL TRYING TO ANSWER
One of the central questions is how Mosely and Bradley knew each other.

Police have not publicly explained their relationship or why Mosely was at the apartment complex.

Authorities also have not disclosed exactly how Mosely died.

A cause and manner of death have not been publicly released, meaning investigators have not yet provided a definitive medical explanation for what happened to her.

Police are also working to determine whether all of Mosely’s remains have been recovered.

The discovery of additional remains in a vehicle indicates that investigators are dealing with multiple locations and pieces of evidence, but officials have not said whether the search for additional remains has ended.

DOORDASH DETAILS ADD ANOTHER LAYER TO THE CASE
Mosely was reportedly known to work as a DoorDash driver, and early reports indicated that she may have been making a delivery around the time she disappeared.

However, police later clarified that while Mosely had a DoorDash account, company information indicated that she was not logged into the platform or accepting deliveries that day.

That detail remains part of the broader effort to establish Mosely’s movements before investigators found her remains.

BRADLEY’S PREVIOUS LEGAL HISTORY
Bradley, 18, had previous encounters with law enforcement before the current investigation.

Court records cited by local news organizations show that he had faced allegations involving family violence and disputes at the home where he lived with his father.

He was previously charged in connection with a December 2024 incident involving allegations of terroristic threats, battery and other offenses.

Those earlier allegations are separate from the current investigation and do not by themselves establish what happened to Mosely.

Police have also said Bradley lived at the apartment with his father and that investigators continue to interview the father as they work to establish the timeline.

INVESTIGATION REMAINS ACTIVE
Smyrna police have stressed that detectives are still collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Authorities have used additional law-enforcement resources, including specialized search dogs, while examining the apartment complex and surrounding areas.

Police have also said they have not established a connection between this case and any other crimes or victims.

Bradley has not publicly provided a statement to investigators, according to police.

As the investigation continues, detectives are expected to examine forensic evidence, reconstruct Mosely’s final known movements and determine the relationship between the victim and the accused.

For Mosely’s family, however, the case has already become a devastating search for answers.

The latest discovery has provided investigators with additional evidence, but many major questions remain unresolved — including exactly what happened to the 26-year-old mother, why she was at the apartment complex and whether all of her remains have been recovered.

Bradley is accused of malice murder and concealing a death. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
