Tech Entrepreneur Adam Robinson and His Young Family Among 9 Killed in Florida Learjet Crash — A Dream Life Cut Short in Seconds
A successful technology entrepreneur, his wife and their two young children were among nine people killed when a private Learjet crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026. Adam Robinson, 45, was traveling with his wife, Helen Sharp, and their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, when the aircraft plunged from the sky and erupted into a massive fireball. A family trip that should have been filled with happy memories instead ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
Robinson was known for his work in the technology and marketing industries. He co-founded Robly, an email marketing platform, and later founded Retention.com, an Austin-based company that helps businesses identify website visitors and connect with potential customers through email. His career had made him a recognized member of the entrepreneurial community, but those close to him remembered something more important than his professional achievements: his devotion to his family.
In a podcast interview, Robinson spoke openly about how much he loved the life he had built. He described being able to see his children in the morning and evening, spending time in the place he had always dreamed of living, and having a wife who was happy pursuing her passion as a full-time artist. His words now carry a heartbreaking weight. He had worked to build a successful business, but the greatest part of his life was the time he could spend with Helen and their children.
The family was not traveling alone. Also aboard the aircraft were their nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and two friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The families of the seven passengers later released a joint statement remembering Adam and Helen as devoted parents whose children were the light of their lives. They described the couple’s warmth and generosity, while paying tribute to Cetina for caring for Emma and Charlie with tenderness and devotion. Reed and Fehr were remembered as joyful, adventurous people who loved their friends deeply.
The Learjet 60 had departed Austin, Texas, and was heading toward the Bahamas when the emergency unfolded. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the crew reported icing and moderate turbulence at approximately 35,000 feet before requesting permission to climb higher. Less than 30 seconds after that request was approved, the aircraft began a rapid descent and issued a Mayday call. The jet ultimately crashed near Military Trail in Palm Beach County, killing everyone aboard. Investigators later found pieces of the aircraft’s left elevator as far as 3.8 miles from the crash site, suggesting that the plane may have begun breaking apart before impact.
The tragedy claimed the lives of an entire young family, along with their friends, caregiver and two pilots. For those who knew Adam Robinson, his legacy will not be defined only by the companies he built or the success he achieved, but by the love he expressed for his wife and children. His dream had been to build a life where work and family could exist side by side. In the end, the four people at the center of that dream were lost together, leaving loved ones and an entire community grieving a future that will never come.
