Teenager, 17, Arrested After Boy, 17, Dies in Horror Crash Following Police Chase

A teenage boy has died in a devastating early-morning crash in Bristol, England, after a short police pursuit involving an unmarked police vehicle. Oscar Hathway, from Knowle, was a passenger in a white Nissan Juke that collided with a black Audi S3 at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 25.

The fatal collision happened at the junction of Wells Road, Airport Road and Wootton Park in South Bristol. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but Oscar was pronounced dead at the scene. His sudden death has left his family grieving as investigators work to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

Two other teenage passengers traveling in the Nissan Juke were injured in the collision. The driver of the Audi S3 was also taken to hospital. All three were initially treated for injuries believed not to be life-threatening and have since been discharged.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the collision followed a short pursuit involving an unmarked police vehicle and the Nissan Juke. The circumstances surrounding the pursuit, including what happened before the two vehicles collided, remain under investigation.

A 17-year-old boy was later arrested at a residential property on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to hospital for assessment before being released on conditional bail. His arrest does not mean he has been convicted, and police inquiries are continuing.

Oscar’s family are receiving support from specialist officers as they come to terms with the loss of their loved one. Police have not released further details about the events leading to the crash, and investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances of the fatal collision.

The tragedy has renewed attention on the dangers surrounding high-speed incidents on public roads and the devastating consequences that can follow. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full sequence of events that led to the teenager’s death.
