‘The Bachelor’ Star Melissa Rycroft Arrested Again on DWI Charges Just Two Months After Guilty Plea in Previous Case

Reality TV Star Faces New Legal Trouble as Her Latest Arrest Raises Questions About Her Previous DWI Conviction and Probation

Melissa Rycroft Strickland, the former The Bachelor contestant and Dancing with the Stars champion, is facing another serious legal setback after being arrested in Texas on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). The 43-year-old television personality was taken into custody in Southlake on Sunday, November 1, 2026, according to jail records reviewed by PEOPLE. The arrest comes just two months after she pleaded guilty to a previous DWI charge, making the latest development particularly concerning.

According to Tarrant County jail records, Rycroft is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license following a prior conviction or suspension, and a collision involving vehicle damage estimated at less than $200. Her combined bond was set at $9,000. The new allegations have attracted attention because they emerged so soon after the reality star had already faced legal consequences in a separate case. However, the latest arrest remains an allegation, and it does not establish guilt.

The previous incident dates back to September 23, 2025, when police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Southlake, Texas. According to the Southlake Police Department, officers arrived at the scene around 12:05 p.m. and discovered a black Cadillac Escalade that had struck a tree. Investigators said witnesses had reportedly observed the vehicle being driven erratically before the collision. Rycroft was identified as the driver and was evaluated by officers before undergoing a standardized field sobriety test. She was subsequently arrested and transported to jail. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved, and authorities reported no injuries.

The legal consequences of that earlier incident came in September 2026, when Rycroft pleaded guilty to the DWI charge. Rather than serving a potential 280-day jail sentence, she received 20 months of probation and was ordered to pay approximately $2,000 in fines and court costs. Her probation conditions were extensive: she was required to complete 36 hours of community service, attend a DWI education course, undergo a substance-abuse evaluation, and submit to drug and alcohol testing. She was also prohibited from consuming alcohol or using illegal drugs during probation. Additionally, she was required to drive a vehicle equipped with a camera-enabled ignition interlock device.

Following her first arrest in 2025, Rycroft briefly opened up about the difficult period she was experiencing. Responding to a supportive fan on social media in October of that year, she admitted that life had been extremely challenging. “Life really sucks right now and I’m struggling, but I’m trying to march forward,” she wrote, thanking those who had offered her encouragement during what she described as a difficult time.

Rycroft first became widely known in 2009 when she appeared on the 13th season of The Bachelor, starring alongside Jason Mesnick. Although she initially accepted his marriage proposal during the season finale, their relationship ended in a highly publicized television moment when Mesnick later chose runner-up Molly Malaney. Rycroft subsequently built a successful television career, competing on Dancing with the Stars in 2009 before returning for the All-Stars season in 2012, which she ultimately won with professional dancer Tony Dovolani. She later married Tye Strickland in 2009, and the couple shares three children.

Now, with another DWI arrest reported just months after her previous guilty plea, Rycroft faces renewed uncertainty over her legal situation. The latest charges could bring additional complications, particularly given the probation conditions imposed in her earlier case. For now, further details surrounding the November 1 incident and its potential legal consequences remain to be established. Her case is another reminder that a single legal setback can have consequences that extend far beyond the courtroom, especially when a person is already serving a court-ordered sentence.
