THE COWBOY’S WIFE GAVE BIRTH TO HIS ENEMY’S SON

PART 1 – THE BABY WHO CARRIED HIS ENEMY’S BLOOD

He had spent nine months preparing to become a father.

He built a beautiful wooden crib, bought tiny clothes, and even chose a name for the child he had been dreaming of holding.

But when his wife finally gave birth, a stranger walked into the hospital room and made a shocking announcement.

“That baby is not yours. He’s my son.”

And what the stranger revealed next would turn a happy family into a nightmare.

It was the spring of 1889 in the frontier town of Silver Creek, Montana.

Thomas Walker was a thirty-six-year-old cowboy who owned a prosperous ranch outside town. He was respected for his courage, honesty, and loyalty to the people he loved.

His wife, Elizabeth, was a beautiful young woman with long golden hair and gentle green eyes. They had been married for five years and had dreamed of starting a family together.

Thomas adored his wife.

He worked from sunrise until sunset, saving money to build a comfortable home where they could raise their children.

When Elizabeth announced that she was pregnant, Thomas was overwhelmed with happiness.

He lifted her into his arms and kissed her forehead.

“You’re going to make me the happiest father in Montana.”

Elizabeth smiled, but her eyes filled with tears.

“I hope our baby will be as kind as you, Thomas.”

During the following months, Thomas became the most excited husband in town.

He built a small crib with his own hands, painted the nursery, and bought a rocking horse for the baby.

Every evening, he placed his hand on Elizabeth’s belly and whispered:

“Little one, Daddy is waiting for you. I promise I’ll protect you from anything in this world.”

But Elizabeth had a secret.

A secret involving a man Thomas hated more than anyone else.

His name was Richard Morgan.

Richard owned the neighboring ranch and had been Thomas’s greatest rival for years. Their families had fought over land, cattle, and water rights for nearly a decade.

Richard was wealthy, arrogant, and ruthless.

He had once threatened to destroy Thomas’s ranch if he refused to sell his northern pasture.

But there was something Thomas didn’t know.

Before marrying him, Elizabeth had secretly been involved with Richard.

Their relationship had ended shortly before her wedding, but Richard had never truly accepted losing her.

And when he discovered Elizabeth was pregnant, he began sending her letters.

At first, she ignored them.

Then one evening, a letter arrived with a message that terrified her.

“I know the baby is mine. You can hide the truth from Thomas, but you cannot hide my son from me forever.”

Elizabeth burned the letter.

She told herself that Richard was only trying to ruin her marriage.

But she knew the truth.

The baby might not belong to Thomas.

One rainy night in May, Elizabeth went into labor.

Thomas rushed her to the doctor’s house, holding her hand the entire way.

After several difficult hours, a baby boy was born.

The doctor smiled.

“Congratulations, Mr. Walker. You have a healthy son.”

Thomas began crying with happiness.

He gently held the tiny baby in his arms.

“Hello, my little boy. I’ve waited so long to meet you.”

He looked at Elizabeth.

“Thank you, sweetheart. You’ve given me the greatest gift in the world.”

Elizabeth turned her face away and began to cry.

Thomas thought they were tears of happiness.

He had no idea they were tears of guilt.

Two days later, Thomas returned to the ranch to prepare the house for his wife and newborn son.

He bought a beautiful silver bracelet engraved with the baby’s chosen name: Daniel.

But when he returned to the doctor’s house that afternoon, he found an unexpected visitor standing outside.

It was Richard Morgan.

Thomas immediately became furious.

“What are you doing here?”

Richard ignored him and walked toward the room where Elizabeth was resting.

“Congratulations, Thomas. I heard you finally have a son.”

Thomas stepped in front of him.

“Get off my property.”

Richard smiled coldly.

“Your property? That’s an interesting thing to say when you’re raising another man’s child.”

Thomas grabbed his coat.

“Watch your mouth, Richard.”

Richard pulled a folded document from his pocket.

Then he looked toward the newborn baby.

“That boy is mine.”

Thomas froze.

“What did you just say?”

Richard placed the document on a nearby table.

“Elizabeth and I were together before your wedding. The dates speak for themselves. That baby was conceived before you ever became his mother’s husband.”

Thomas stared at the paper.

His hands began trembling.

“You’re lying.”

Richard shook his head.

“Ask your wife.”

Thomas slowly turned toward Elizabeth.

She was lying in bed, her face completely pale.

“Elizabeth?”

She began crying.

“Thomas, please let me explain.”

He took a step backward.

“Is it true?”

She covered her face.

“I never wanted this to happen.”

Thomas felt his heart breaking.

“Is that child mine?”

Elizabeth couldn’t answer.

Her silence was more painful than any words.

Richard stepped closer to the crib.

“I have come to take my son home.”

Thomas immediately moved between him and the baby.

“You will never touch him.”

Richard laughed.

“You have no idea who you’re fighting, Thomas. I have money, lawyers, and witnesses. You have nothing but a ranch and a broken marriage.”

Then he leaned closer and whispered:

“And there’s something else you should know. Elizabeth didn’t marry you because she loved you. She married you because I told her I would never give her a respectable life.”

Thomas looked at his wife.

“Is that true?”

Elizabeth sobbed.

“Richard promised to marry me. Then he abandoned me when he learned I was pregnant. I was frightened and alone. Thomas, you were kind to me when nobody else was.”

Thomas stared at her.

“So you let me believe the child was mine?”

“I wanted to tell you. I swear I did.”

He looked down at the baby.

Little Daniel was sleeping peacefully, unaware that two men were arguing over his future.

Thomas gently touched the baby’s tiny hand.

For five years, he had dreamed of becoming a father.

Now, in a single afternoon, he had discovered that his marriage might have been built on a lie.

But just as Richard turned to leave, Elizabeth suddenly called out.

“Wait!”

Both men looked at her.

She struggled to sit up.

“Richard, you cannot take Daniel. You promised me you would never tell Thomas about what happened that night.”

Richard’s smile disappeared.

Thomas slowly turned toward her.

“What night?”

Elizabeth began shaking.

Then she whispered something that made Richard’s face turn pale.

“Because Daniel may not be your son either, Richard.”

Silence filled the room.

Thomas stared at his wife.

Richard stepped forward.

“What are you talking about?”

Elizabeth reached beneath her pillow and pulled out an old envelope.

Inside was a letter from a doctor.

She looked at Thomas with tears streaming down her face.

“There’s something about Daniel’s birth that neither of you knows.”

And as Thomas opened the letter, he realized that the truth could destroy both men.

TO BE CONTINUED – PART 2

Is Richard really Daniel’s biological father? What happened the night Elizabeth became pregnant? And could someone else be responsible for the greatest betrayal in the Walker family’s history?
