TRAPPED UNDER THE FOREST FLOOR, A BABY BADGER WAITS FOR ONE GENTLE HAND

A baby badger has been rescued after becoming trapped inside a partially collapsed muddy burrow beneath an old forest tree in England. The young animal, with its distinctive black and white facial stripes and damp fur, was found unable to climb out over slippery soil at the burrow entrance.
The rescuer, wearing a dark green waterproof jacket and heavy green gloves, worked slowly and carefully. Loose mud and fallen leaves were cleared from the entrance by hand, while a small flashlight was kept angled away from the badger’s eyes. Once the way was open, the rescuer supported the badger’s chest and body and guided it out of the burrow.
Small clumps of mud fell from its fur as it reached solid ground. Moments later, the badger was gently lowered into a cloth lined wicker basket, where it settled safely and looked up, calm at last.
The rescue, captured from a chest mounted bodycam in first person view, shows how patience and a gentle touch can make all the difference for a frightened wild animal.
