14-Year-Old Boy Rushed to Hospital After Slipping Under Moving School Bus While Chasing It

A 14-year-old student was rushed to hospital after a frightening accident at an Illinois high school, where he slipped beneath a moving school bus while trying to catch up with the vehicle. During the attempt to reach the vehicle, he lost his footing and slid underneath it near the rear passenger-side wheels.

Deputy Chief Kim Covelli of the Lincolnshire Police Department said the bus ran over the teenager’s legs. Officers and emergency crews from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The student was found conscious and breathing, and paramedics quickly transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.

Police initially described his injuries as non-life-threatening, offering some reassurance amid the worrying circumstances. However, officials had not provided a further update on his condition in the days following the accident. Investigators are continuing to gather information to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Stevenson High School Principal Troy Gobble informed families about the accident in an email sent on Thursday evening. He also expressed support for the teenager and his family as they faced the difficult situation.
