Presley Gerber’s Final Hours Raise New Questions After His Death at 27

Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died at just 27 — and the circumstances surrounding his final hours are now coming under renewed scrutiny.
Gerber died on September 20, 2026, at a recovery residence in Santa Monica, California, only hours after entering the facility. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner said his cause and manner of death were initially deferred while additional testing was conducted.
Santa Monica police are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. Officers responded to the residence at about 9:35 a.m. after receiving calls reporting a possible cardiac arrest and an overdose. Gerber was pronounced dead roughly 10 minutes later. Police have said there was no indication of foul play, but investigators have been looking into how he obtained the drugs or prescriptions believed to be involved.
What makes the case especially unsettling is how little time Gerber had spent at the residence before his death. According to the Los Angeles Times, he arrived at the Santa Monica recovery home around 10 p.m. Saturday night. By the following morning, he was dead.
The facility, known as Resolutions Living, is an upscale recovery residence located in a wealthy Santa Monica neighborhood. The Los Angeles Times reported that the property is valued at roughly $7.7 million and operates differently from the separate licensed treatment facility run by the same owners. The distinction has drawn new attention as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding Gerber’s death.
Gerber had previously spoken openly about his struggles with addiction and mental health. His sister, model Kaia Gerber, discussed his long battle with drug addiction in a 2026 interview, while Presley himself had talked publicly about depression, recovery and his desire to help others facing similar challenges.

His death has left his family devastated. A representative for the family confirmed his passing and asked the public to respect their privacy during what they described as an extremely painful time.
Now, investigators are trying to answer a question that remains at the center of the case: How did a 27-year-old man seeking recovery come to die inside a place intended to help him?
The official cause and manner of death have not been publicly finalized, and authorities have not accused the facility of wrongdoing. As toxicology testing and the investigation continue, Presley Gerber’s final hours may provide crucial clues to what happened behind the doors of the Santa Monica residence.
For a family already familiar with the painful reality of addiction, the search for answers is now beginning all over again.
