Wiped Out in Seconds: The Heartbreaking Final Flight of Tech Entrepreneur Adam Robinson and His Young Family

A family vacation that should have been filled with happy memories ended in an unimaginable tragedy when a private jet crashed in South Florida, killing technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife, their two young children, and five other people aboard. The Learjet 60 went down on November 1, 2026, in Greenacres, near West Palm Beach, while traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas. All nine people on board were killed, leaving relatives and friends struggling to comprehend how so many lives could be lost in a matter of seconds.

Adam Robinson, 45, was traveling with his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, and their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2. The family had built a life around entrepreneurship, creativity, and raising their young children. Robinson was the founder and CEO of technology companies including Retention.com and RB2B, which help businesses identify visitors to their websites. He was also known in the business community for sharing advice about growing companies and building successful startups. Sharp was an entrepreneur and ceramic artist who had previously founded a public relations agency. Their relatives described them as devoted parents, saying Emma and Charlie were the light of their lives.

Three other passengers were also killed: family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and the children’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina. Reed and Fehr were remembered as adventurous people who brought joy to those around them. Cetina was described by the family as someone who cared for Emma and Charlie with tenderness and devotion, becoming much more than an employee. The seven passengers were connected through relationships that made the flight especially heartbreaking: a family, close friends, and the person entrusted with caring for their children all lost their lives together.

The two pilots also died in the crash. Captain Jeff Gregory was identified by a former employer, while 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was identified by her family. Filgueiras had pursued aviation from a young age and earned her pilot’s license at 17 through a high school aviation program. She had already accumulated substantial flying experience and was beginning what her loved ones hoped would be a long career. Gregory was remembered by people who knew him as a devoted husband and father.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board said the aircraft encountered difficult conditions shortly before the disaster. At approximately 35,000 feet, the crew reported moderate turbulence and ice accumulating on the aircraft. The pilots then requested permission to climb to a higher altitude. Less than 30 seconds later, the aircraft transmitted that it was descending rapidly and issued a Mayday call. Investigators later located a significant part of the jet’s left elevator, a component of the tail that helps control the aircraft’s pitch, several miles from the crash site. They have not determined whether the component separated before the crash and contributed to the loss of control, or whether it broke away during the aircraft’s rapid descent.

The crash created a massive fireball and scattered debris across a residential and commercial area. One person on the ground suffered a leg injury, and hundreds of residents were temporarily evacuated while emergency crews secured the scene. Investigators are examining the wreckage, aircraft maintenance records, weather conditions, and flight communications to establish what happened. No final cause has been determined. For the families left behind, however, the investigation cannot change the devastating outcome: Adam and Helen will never return home to their children, and Emma and Charlie will never have the chance to grow up with the parents who loved them. A journey that began as a flight toward a holiday destination became the final journey for nine people whose lives were deeply connected.
