WHAT HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 1?
Barrett’s death remains the subject of a criminal investigation.

According to prosecutors and court documents, police were called to the family’s Frankfort home shortly after 4 p.m. on September 1 after a neighbor discovered Barrett in the basement.

The neighbor reportedly found the child unresponsive and began CPR while calling 911.

Authorities later determined that Barrett’s cause of death was asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck, according to the criminal complaint.

Corie Walsh was also found inside the home.

Prosecutors allege she had injured herself and had been found in an upstairs bathtub. Court documents say she made statements to officers about Barrett and referred to him as the “devil” and the “anti-Christ.”
