CALIFORNIA SCHOOL DISTRICT HR DIRECTOR ACCUSED OF SEXUAL COERCION AND THREATS

A former Fresno State basketball player is suing former Fresno Unified School District HR director Manjit Atwal, alleging she pressured him into a sexual relationship and threatened his career and family when he tried to end it.

According to the lawsuit, Ja’Vance Coleman claims Atwal used her position of authority to pressure him, helped cover his reduced wages with personal funds, and later threatened the jobs of his relatives and his son’s educational future. The lawsuit also alleges that school district leaders knew about the situation but failed to adequately protect him.

The district confirmed Atwal is no longer employed there and said it takes allegations of harassment and discrimination seriously. The claims are allegations presented in a civil lawsuit and have not been established as proven facts in court.
