Bodycam Captures Fire Station Rescue: Firefighter Lifts Tiny Black Kitten From Tool Cabinet as Floodwater Fills the Bay

The station itself was taking on water.

In chest-camera footage dated 2024-11-04, a firefighter wades through ankle-deep floodwater inside his own fire station, where rain has pushed across the apparatus bay floor and turned it into a shallow, rippling lake reflecting the red emergency lights of the engines. Perched on top of a red metal tool cabinet, just above the waterline, a tiny black kitten crouches with its soaked fur standing in spikes, its large pale blue-gray eyes fixed on the rescuer approaching it.

The firefighter, wearing tan turnout gear with yellow reflective stripes, thick black gloves and a harness hung with clips and straps, does not reach straight in. Both gloved hands come up slowly on either side of the kitten and hold steady while it lifts its head, blinks, and lets out a faint mew. Only then do the hands close gently around its small body, one supporting its chest and the other beneath it, lifting it clear of the cold wet metal.

In the final seconds the kitten is drawn downward and settled low into a dry towel, still looking toward the camera, while behind it the flooded bay stretches out: lockers hung with turnout gear, the big garage doors with rain visible beyond them, and an engine standing in the water with its lights still flashing.

No collar or owner is visible in the footage, and the video ends where the rescue itself ends: with the smallest occupant of the station off the cabinet, out of the damp, and safe in dry cloth.
