On the morning of October 12, while checking areas hit by severe flooding after heavy rains, a rescue worker discovered a soaking-wet kitten huddled on top of a brochure shelf inside a dental clinic. Murky floodwater had risen nearly half a meter, submerging the entire waiting room floor.

Bodycam footage from the rescuer’s chest-mounted camera captured the entire rescue. The kitten, its fur matted and spiky from the water, clung to the edge of the narrow shelf with its tiny white paws, eyes wide with fear. As the gloved hand drew closer, it blinked and let out a faint, pleading meow.

“I had to move very slowly so as not to startle it,” the rescuer shared. With gentle movements, he slid both hands beneath the tiny body and lifted it off the shelf. The kitten tensed at first, but gradually relaxed as it was held close against his chest.

The video ends with the kitten placed safely inside a dry rescue carrier on the reception counter, gazing up with big round eyes at the person who had just saved it — a moment that has moved thousands of viewers.
