KNIFE-WIELDING MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY THREATENING CREW MEMBER ON MICHAEL B. JORDAN’S ‘MIAMI VICE ’85’ SET
A Brooklyn film set reportedly turned into a frightening scene Friday night after a man allegedly pulled out a large butcher knife during a confrontation with a production crew member, prompting police to intervene and arrest him.

Alex Perez, 23, was taken into custody on October 23, 2026, after an incident near the set of Miami Vice ’85, the upcoming crime drama starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, according to police.
The confrontation occurred around 11:15 p.m. near Bay Parkway and McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn, close to Washington Cemetery, while filming was taking place nearby.
Verbal Dispute Allegedly Escalates Into Knife Threat
According to the New York Police Department, Perez became involved in a verbal dispute with a 43-year-old male production staffer and allegedly displayed a knife during the confrontation.

The staff member reportedly feared for his safety. Reports identified the weapon as a large butcher knife.
Police responded to the scene and took Perez into custody without incident. Officers also recovered the knife.
No injuries were reported, but the incident raised concerns about safety around the production area.
Suspect Faces Menacing and Weapons Charges
Perez, who is from Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
The charges stem from allegations that he threatened another person while displaying a knife. The accusations have not, by themselves, established guilt.
Media reports also cited Perez’s alleged prior arrests, including incidents involving suspected gang-related activity, an assault involving a firearm and burglary. Those reports concern prior allegations and should not be treated as proof of guilt in the current case.
It was not immediately clear whether Perez had retained an attorney to comment on the allegations.
Hollywood Production Draws Attention After Incident
Miami Vice ’85 is a forthcoming film inspired by the hit television crime series that originally aired on NBC from 1984 to 1989.
The new movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, and stars Michael B. Jordan as undercover detective Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, alongside Austin Butler as his partner, James “Sonny” Crockett.
The production has been filming in locations across New York City and New Jersey as it recreates the world of the original series for a new generation.
The reported confrontation brought an unexpected disruption to the production, although police confirmed that the arrest itself was completed without further incident.
The film is currently scheduled for release in 2028.
