A Soaked Puppy, A Steady Hand, And A Safe Place On Dry Ground In Flooded Kenya

A small brown puppy has been rescued from shallow floodwater in an open grassland in Kenya after being found standing alone, soaked and shivering, in muddy water on the morning of 18 June 2025.
The rescue, captured on bodycam footage, shows a rescuer in a bright orange waterproof jacket wading slowly toward the frightened animal. The puppy, its fur completely wet and its floppy ears hanging down, watches the rescuer carefully as a black rescue strap is held out toward it.
Rather than rushing, the rescuer keeps the strap loose and comfortable under the puppy’s chest and guides the animal step by step through the shallow water toward a raised muddy bank. On the bank, an open black transport bag and a folded beige towel are already waiting.
Once the puppy reaches dry ground, the rescuer wraps it gently in the beige towel, keeping its face uncovered. The puppy then sits safely on the bank, visibly calmer after its time in the floodwater.
“He did not run. He just waited for help,” the rescuer said. “All he needed was a steady hand and a warm place to rest.”
The puppy was left safe, warm and dry on the bank beside the transport bag, bringing a quiet and emotional end to a rescue that began with one small animal alone in rising water.
