Alone Among Broken Boards, A Tiny Gray Kitten Finds Gentle Hands And Safety

In a storm damaged woodland in Tasmania, a tiny gray tabby kitten was found sitting alone among broken wooden boards, fallen branches, and wet leaves. Her fur was wet, her paws were muddy, and her wide amber eyes watched every move of the rescuer who had come to help her.
The rescuer, wearing a black waterproof rain jacket, opened a cream fleece blanket with both hands and lowered it gently to the wet forest floor. Rain dripped from the branches. The kitten trembled at first, then sniffed the blanket and slowly placed her front paws onto the soft fabric.
Step by step, she walked onto the center of the blanket. The rescuer wrapped the fleece softly around her body, leaving her face uncovered, then lifted her away from the sharp debris and placed her safely inside a nearby open animal carrier, where a flashlight rested on the ground beside it.
Inside the carrier, the kitten looked upward, calm and unharmed. She will now be checked, warmed, and fed, and cared for until she is ready for a safe new home. For rescuers, it was a quiet reminder that even the smallest life, found in the middle of storm debris, is worth stopping for.
