Barn Flood Rescue: Bodycam Footage Shows Rescuer Lifting Tiny Orange Kitten From a Straw-Filled Trough

A 15-second chest-mounted bodycam clip timestamped October 20, 2026 shows a flood rescue worker wading through a drowned countryside barn and gently lifting a tiny orange tabby kitten from a wooden feeding trough, where the animal had been stranded on dry straw as muddy floodwater rose around it.
The footage opens on the kitten sitting alert in the straw-filled trough, its wet orange fur plastered flat, staring directly into the bodycam with wide blue-green eyes. The rescuer — wearing a bright yellow waterproof flood-rescue jacket with silver reflective bands, black waterproof gloves and a rescue harness — moves in slowly, extending one gloved hand toward the animal. The kitten blinks, tilts its head slightly, and lets out a soft meow.
Both hands then slip carefully beneath the kitten’s chest and hindquarters, lifting it clear of the trough with its body kept secure and level. In the closing seconds, the rescuer turns toward the dry ground near the open barn entrance, holding the kitten close as daylight pours through the doorway. The kitten, visibly calmer, looks around with curious eyes.
The old barn — red-painted stall doors, stacked hay bales, floating straw — sits under several inches of muddy floodwater. Barn floods like this are especially dangerous for small animals: troughs and stalls that look like shelter can become shrinking islands as water rises, and young animals lose body heat fast once soaked.
