California Man Accused of Stabbing Lover’s Rival to Death After Finding Him in Bed With His Wife — as Their Two Young Children Were Nearby

A California man has been charged with murder after prosecutors allege he fatally stabbed another man with a pocketknife when he returned home early from work and discovered him in bed with his wife. The deadly confrontation reportedly took place inside the family’s home in Anaheim, where the couple’s two young children were also present.

Authorities identified the accused man as Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, of Anaheim. The victim was identified as Nicholas Garcia, 28. According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at a residence in the 700 block of North Pine Street.

Prosecutors allege that Pinedalopez arrived home earlier than expected and found Garcia wearing only his underwear in bed with his wife. The couple’s two children — a 2-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son — were also in the bedroom, according to investigators. Authorities allege that Pinedalopez then attacked Garcia with a pocketknife, stabbing him multiple times.

Anaheim police officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the residence. When they arrived, officers found Pinedalopez covered in blood, while Garcia’s body was discovered inside the bedroom. Garcia had sustained multiple stab wounds, authorities said. Pinedalopez’s wife and the two children were not physically injured in the incident.

On October 27, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced that Pinedalopez had been charged with one felony count of murder, along with an enhancement alleging personal use of a weapon. If convicted on all counts, he could face a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison. The case is being prosecuted by a senior deputy district attorney assigned to the office’s Homicide Unit.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer addressed the presence of the young children during the alleged attack, emphasizing the devastating impact that witnessing violence at home can have on a family. Authorities have not reported physical injuries to the children or the defendant’s wife, but the circumstances have raised serious concerns about the children’s exposure to the incident.

The case remains part of an ongoing criminal proceeding, and the allegations against Pinedalopez have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty. Investigators and prosecutors will continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Garcia’s death as the case moves forward.
