CHRISTA PIKE RETURNS TO PRISON AFTER SURVIVING FAILED EXECUTION ATTEMPT
Christa Pike, a 50-year-old death row inmate in Tennessee, has returned to prison after spending days in the hospital following a failed lethal injection on September 30, 2026. She had been scheduled to be executed for the 1995 murder of her classmate, Colleen Slemmer.

⚖️ According to her attorneys, Pike received two doses of the execution drug but survived and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. She later regained consciousness, began speaking and walking with assistance, and was discharged to continue receiving medical care in prison.
The failed procedure has prompted serious questions about how the execution was carried out. A judge has ordered state officials to preserve evidence related to the incident, while Tennessee’s governor has paused executions for the remainder of 2026 as the state reviews what happened.
