Drenched and Alone on a Market Counter, a Tiny White Kitten Is Lifted to Safety in the Rain

Night Market, October 20, 2026 — 7:48 PM. Rain was coming down hard over the night market, drumming on the colorful tarpaulin canopies and turning the stone pavement into a mirror of red lantern light. Between the damaged vegetable stalls, on a slippery metal market counter littered with overturned baskets and scattered greens, sat a tiny white kitten — soaked to the skin, muddy patches on its face and legs, its pale blue eyes wide and nervous.
Chest-mounted bodycam footage, timestamped 2026-10-20 19:48:21, captures the rescue from the rescuer’s own point of view. A rescue worker in a dark navy-blue waterproof jacket, black protective gloves and a harness of silver carabiners approaches the counter slowly, both hands extended.
The kitten blinks. Turns its head slightly. Gives a soft meow — the only sound above the rain, the dripping awnings and the distant murmur of the market.
One gloved hand touches the kitten’s side gently. The other slides in to support its body. Then, with practiced care — one hand beneath the chest, one beneath the hindquarters — the rescuer scoops the kitten up. It moves its small paws naturally, tense but cooperative, water dripping from its clumped white fur.
The rescuer draws the kitten close to the chest and turns toward a nearby sheltered stall. In the final frames, the kitten looks toward the camera, its breathing steadier, its little face slowly calming as the warm lantern lights glow behind them through the rain.
