Five Children Left Without Their Parents After New Mexico Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

Five children, ranging in age from just 3 to 14, have been left without their parents after a New Mexico couple were found dead inside their home over the weekend. Authorities say the woman was killed by her boyfriend, who then died by suicide, while all five children were inside the residence.

Angelica Aguirre, 30, and her boyfriend, Shane Perez, 46, were found deceased at their home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Saturday, October 24, according to the Las Cruces Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the residence at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time after the incident was reported.

Police identified the case as a murder-suicide, saying the couple’s five children were present in the home when Aguirre was killed. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a possible motive, and the investigation remains a deeply distressing case for the family and community.

Aguirre frequently shared moments from her family life on social media, including photographs of her children, family outings and affectionate posts about Perez. In a Facebook post she reshared last November, she expressed appreciation for what he did for their family, a detail that adds another layer of heartbreak to the tragedy.

The children have since been placed in the temporary custody of a relative, with assistance from New Mexico’s Children, Youth and Families Department, police said. Their lives have been dramatically changed by the loss of both parents, and the family now faces the difficult task of helping them navigate the aftermath.

Investigators have not released further details about what led to the fatal incident. Authorities have also not announced a motive, leaving important questions unanswered as the case continues to draw attention.
