Florida Man Accused of Hitting Roommate in the Face With Ice Cream After Uber Dispute
A disagreement over space in an Uber allegedly turned violent when a 60-year-old Florida man struck his roommate in the face with a Walmart grocery bag containing a tub of ice cream, according to police.

Burton McDonald was arrested after deputies responded to a disturbance at a Walmart in Ocala, Florida. Investigators said the argument began when McDonald became upset about how much room his 65-year-old roommate’s belongings, including several large plants, were taking up in their shared ride.
According to the arrest affidavit, the roommate told police he was struck in the face, leaving redness on his left cheek. The Uber driver reportedly witnessed the confrontation and told investigators that McDonald hit the man with the bag, while the roommate did not strike or push McDonald.
McDonald allegedly told officers he was angry because his roommate had been “mouthing off” and the items were taking up too much space. He now faces a charge of battery on a person 65 or older, a felony under Florida law. His arraignment is scheduled for November 17, 2026.
A dispute over groceries and seating space has now become a criminal case. McDonald is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
